This project intends to focus primarily on two important female figures within early Christianity: Thecla of Iconium and Vibia Perpetua. We will focus on these two important female martyrs, who transformed the way historians have understood female leadership, ascetic practices, and social roles in the Roman Empire. The project will begin as a WordPress or Drupel website. The website will have a series of tabs that include:
• Homepage: brief bio/introduction to project/RSS feed
• Thecla: select passages from Cooper’s book with relevant hyperlinks
• Perpetua: select passages from Copper’s book with relevant hyperlinks
• Images: open source images available for download
• Timeline: interactive timeline
• Interactive Map (e.g. Thecla’s travels)
• Resources page: Zotero library; links to other online resources
• Annotated bibliography
